Honourable Mention – Douglas Richardson

The steeple of Norval Presbyterian Church is a well-maintained local landmark featuring four distinct pinnacles. I chose to paint it from the vantage point of the nearby manse, set off by the ornate front porch - a view which Lucy Maud Montgomery would have enjoyed many times.
I am a retired architect who delights in painting a few watercolors now and then. I confine myself to this medium because there is much to learn regarding it's infinite variety in methods of execution. I find it very relaxing to start with a new blank sheet, as my mind enters into its alternate world and I forget all my current concerns. I have accidentally sold a couple of paintings, but enjoy painting any subject which comes to mind, just for the sheer pleasure of it.
